Abstract:
For more than one hundred years seedling trees of the carob, sometimes called St. John's Bread, Ceratonia siliqua, L., have been grown for shade and ornament on streets and avenues throughout. southern and central California, and also in southern Arizona, at elevations below 2500 feet.
