ISHS Acta Horticulturae 147: Symposium on Production Planning in Glasshouse Floriculture

BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN PRODUCTION PLANNING

Author:   O. Christensen
DOI:   10.17660/ActaHortic.1983.147.4
Abstract:
The preparation of standard growing conditions for pot plants and the time and spacing for year-round production were the initial experiments, with the purpose to develop biological data for production planning. These experiments showed that the plants were very heterogenous and led to clonal selection as a new research area. Analysing the year round production it was found, that not only the daylength but also the increasing and decreasing daylength can have an influence on the vegetative growth of plants. A better utilization of the bench area has also been pointed out as a new research area.
