Abstract: its favorite taste, but also for its nutritious value. Especially, thiamine (ONO and KAWASAKI, 1968) and riboflavin (Kagaku Gijutsucho Shigenkyoku, 1963) are abundantly contained in the fungus, and furthermore, a hypocholesterolemic substance on the cholesterol content in plasma has been found (KANEDA et al, 1964) in it. Vitamin D is practically taken through the intake of this fungus. However, under the present condition of cultivating the fungus and the industrial drying system the conversion of ergosterol in the fungus into vitamin D2 is very difficult because of the absence of the direct sunlight. The present experiments were conducted to search the condition under which an adequate amount of vitamin D2 could be formed by irradiation with an artificial light source of a "Fluorescent Sunlamp".
