Title: Notes on a Film on Mushroom Growing in Australia
Author: M. Lawson

Abstract:

A few words have to be said about the industry in Australia. The Australian Mushroom Growers' Association has been most successful in its promotion efforts. On the advice of our very good friend Winston Alderton of the British Mushroom Growers' Association, excellent relations have been established with the cooking editors of the women's magazines and newspapers, and we supply them regularly with new receipes and fresh mushrooms for cooking demonstrations. The same sort of service is provided to cookware manufacturers. Cooking demonstrators are invited to our farm walks. Moreover, we are running a campaign to improve the public image of the industry in a number of ways: by supplying school children with project folders on the industry and by developing good public relations with television producers. We have found the latter method most successful: in the last year, e.g., we have clocked up several hours on T.V. at peak viewing periods both on the National and Commercial Stations.
