Abstract: This is a short report on the actual state of mushroom growing in Poland since the 4th International Mushroom Conference in 1959. During the last 3 years many farms were built. The average Polish mushroom farm has about 500 m2/5350 feet2. The houses are either constructed specially or adapted to this purpose. Strides forward have been made in ventilation. The manure position did not change very much. Composting methods vary. Many growers use the method developed by Mr. Rasmussen, which is called here—The Danish Method. The shelves and trays are 20 cm/8 inch/deep. Peat of various kinds or peat-sand-chalk mixtures are used for casing. Growers are getting 8-10 kg/m2 (2 lb per sq ft) of mushrooms 3 times a year.
