Title: Transportation Capabilities of Mushroom Mycelium Determined by Means of Radioactive Isotopes
Authors: G. Nielsen and C.R. Rasmussen

Abstract:

The paper summarizes the results from two experiments carried out at the Agricultural Research Department, Danish Atomic Energy Commission Research Establishment, Ris0, in cooperation with the Mushroom Research Station at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural College in Copenhagen.

The primary purpose was—by means of P32 and Ca45—to investigate the speed with which the fruiting bodies and hyphaes were able to transport "building material," and to determine the distances involved in such transport. The investigation was in addition carried out as a comparative cropping experiment, a determination of a prospective relation between distance and actual yield was also made.
