Abstract: The Pasteurization Room used with Electric Cable heating was designed in a similar manner to that used for zero cool rooms in refrigeration. Pasteurization of mushroom compost requires a well insulated building; the savings to be achieved through use of efficient insulation are considerable. The first cost must be kept to a minimum in order to reduce depreciation charges and interest on the investment. Insufficient insulation, however, adds to the operating costs. Further consideration must be given to costs of maintenance, which will be greatly increased if careful attention is not given to protection of the insulation, provision against rupture, by heat or mechanical damage and the like.
