Abstract: The first plan for the development of mushroom growing in the whole country was elaborated in 1953. The plan was combined with the general directives worked out for the development of the agriculture. During the coordination it became evident that within a few years we shall not be in the position, even at the price of sacrifices, to procure horse manure of suitable quality in the required quantities. It became a fundamental duty incumbent upon the research to resolve the problem of replacing or substituting the horse manure.
