Volume 3 Part 1 Article 5
Year 1957
Title: Mushroom Growing in Denmark
Author: C. R. Rasmussen

Abstract:

The total Danish production of mushrooms has increased considerably since a report on this industry was given at the international mushroom conference in 1953. Table 1 shows the supply and average prices obtained at the fresh market of Copenhagen since 1950.

During the summer and autumn of 1955 there was a tendency to overproduction followed by such low prices that production was not profitable to the average grower.' This has, however, already changed and better prices are obtained, but it must be noted that a publicity committee has recently been set up and has so far come to the agreement that 0.70 Danish kroner (equal to about 35 French francs) per carton of spawn is collected for propaganda purposes.
