Abstract: Boletus edulis is a delicious ectomycorrhizal mushroom found throughout North America, Europe and China. It grows under mixed forests of Pinaceae, Fagaceae and Betulaceae. This paper summarises advances in current research on Boletus edulis, including the distribution, ecology, management, harvesting, and success and failure in cultivation. Research status, trends and prospects are also discussed.
