Authors: C. Pukahuta, U. Unphim, P. Wuthikhamphee and A. Payapanon

Abstract:

Lentinus squarrosulus Mont. is an edible white rot mushroom of the tropics. It is widely consumed in the northern and north-eastern parts of Thailand. It is cultivated in natural logs or in sawdust with supplements such as rice bran, sugar, calcium sulfate, magnesium sulfate etc. Twenty-one isolates were obtained from wild fruiting bodies or cultivated sources and aspects of their morphology studied. Because superior yield as well as quality are sought, 12 isolates were tested. They were grown in supplemented sawdust for two seasons. Fruiting bodies were harvested at commercial stage and the biological efficiency determined.
