Abstract: We investigated the effect of temperature (15, 20 and 25°C), pH (5, 6 and 7) and relative humidity (RH; 80, 84, 90 and 95%) regimes on growth rate and sporulation of Cladobotryum dendroides, the cause of cobweb disease on the button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus). The growth rate of the pathogen was highest (6.16 mm/day) at 20°C and pHs 5 and 6, whereas sporulation was highest (1,200 x 103 spores/cm2) at 25°C and pH 6. Considering the combined effect of temperature and RH, the pathogen showed the highest mycelial growth rate (7.96 mm/day) at 25°C and 90% RH, while sporulation was highest (1,035 x 103 spores/m2) at the same temperature and 95% RH. These observations provided insight into the epidiemiology of the disease under varied growing conditions.
