Abstract: Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is suspected of being implicated in compost utilization by Agaricus bisporus during its commercial cultivation A method was established for measuring H2O2 concentration m composts H2O2 concentrations measured were shown to be a marker of mycelium biomass production during both the vegetative growth and the period of sporophore development Experiments with agar media showed that glucose oxidases, aryl alcohol oxidases and methanol oxidases were potential H2O2 producing enzymes for A bisporus.
