Title: Occurrence of insects and mites in mushroom compost in Ireland

Abstract:

Lycoriella solani frequently, and Megaselia halterata occasionally, were found in compost samples taken from mushroom houses, compost production plants and pasteurising tunnel. Heteropeza pygmaea was also found occasionally, but on mushroom farms only. Three genera of mites were recorded in these samples: Pygmephorus sp. and Histiostoma sp. were present occasionally and Parasitus bituberosus was found frequently.
