Abstract: As part of a larger strain-search project, isolates of Bacillus thuringiensis (B t) were subjected to a screening process against a range of insects This resulted in the development of a dipteran-active strain of B t (GC327) which was at least as active against the mushroom sciand, Lycoriella auripila, as current commercial chemical insecticides but without any phytotoxic side effects. The development of GC327 from an initial screening process through to semi-commercial trials is outlined.
