Year 1995
Title: Very large scale commercial trial of a biological control for mushroom blotch disease
Authors: F.C. Miller and M. Spear

Abstract:

Bacterial Blotch disease of mushrooms, caused by Pseudomonas tolaasii or P. gingen can be controlled biologically. A preparation of a niche competitive P. pseudomonas, marketed as Victus, was used in a very large scale commercial trial. Quantitative analysis of trial results demonstrated that Victus was highly effective in controlling blotch. Statistically significant increases in total yield, and first quality mushroom yields were observed, along with a decrease in second quality mushroom production. Victus usage permitted an increase in yield without coincident loss of quality traditionally observed at the study farm.
