Abstract: Between 1990 and 1991, mushroom growing units were assessed for the presence of Trichoderma species through the collection of air, swab and compost samples. The Trichoderma species isolated were Trichoderma harzianum, T. viride, T. longibrachiatum, and T. koningii. T. harzianum, was the most commonly isolated species. T. harzianum types Thl, Th2 and Th3 were isolated, with results showing that Thl constituted 16% of isolates collected, Th2 - 76% and Th3 - 8%, the opposite trend to results found during a previous survey of compost production yards.
