Abstract: Results on the phytosanitary state of 105 samples of mushroom spawn are shown. Ulster's method was used for detecting the mycoflora related to the spawn of Agaricus bisporus and A. bitorquis. The analysis were made on samples selected at random and without knowing previously the phytosanitary state of the spawns. In order to know the possible ways of contamination of the mushroom spawns, analysis of uninoculated grains of rye and millet were made, to find out their related mycoflora. Likewise and to check the effectivity of the sterilising system used during the commercial process, sterile spawns were analysed. From our studies, we can conclude that pathogens such as Verticillium fungicola, Mycogone perniciosa, Diehliomyces microsporus and Cladobotryum dendroides are absent, so mushroom spawns do not seem to be the means of transmission for these diseases. Nevertheless, a great number of fungi, such as Pénicillium, Alternaria and some Mucorales were found.
