Abstract: Research into biological methods of mushroom pest control is evaluated and the benefits and disadvantages of such methods are outlined. A range of 'candidate' biological control methods or agents are examined for their relevance to mushroom pest control including predators, parasites, pathogens, pheromones, kairomones, repellents, anti-feedants and genetic control. Active research, often in collaboration with industry, is being carried out in all of these areas. A number of products are already available for use in the mushroom industry with good future prospects for others.
