Volume 14 Part 1 Article 45
Year 1995
Title: Central-picking, more than the mere introduction of another piece of machinery
Author: L. Goossens

Abstract:

The pro's and con's of centralised picking are discussed. The advantages identified include better working conditions for the pickers, with a consequent improvement in picking rates; a better environment for current, and to be developed, picking machinery; and better quality control. On the other hand the option of picking in the cropping houses should be retained as an aid to picking management and as an insurance against equipment breakdown.
