Abstract: The commercial potential of a tropical Agaricus was first highlighted at the previous ISMS Congress in Braunschweig, West Germany in 1987. This report outlines continuing research with this strain to determine the necesssaiy environmental parameters for maximising yield of mushrooms whilst maintaining qualify of the harvested crop. It also discusses the problem of first flush vigour, a characteristic of this new species, its carbon dioxide tolerance during cropping, and its susceptibiUty to known mushroom pests and diseases.
