Abstract: The investigations revealed that best medium for linear growth of fungus was malt extract agar followed by wheat extract agar and potato dextrose agar in order of merit. The best range of temperature was found to be between 25-30*C and optimum pH level of 7.0. The starch and peptone were the best carbon and nitrogen sources. Wheat grains and three types of sawdust were tried for spawn preparation. Out of these wheat grains and saw dust of Acacia and arabica proved most desirable. Similarly three types of saw dust alone and with amendment of wheat and rice straws and cotton waste were tried for cultivation. Best yield was obtained on Acacia arabica saw dust amended with cotton waste for white coloured strain followed by brown strain.
