Abstract: Chromelosporium fulvum grew well in media containing mannose, maltose, glucose and sucrose as sole carbon sources respectively. The best nitrogen sources were asparagine, arginine, glutamic acid and sodium nitrate but very little growth occurred in ammonium- and nitrite-containing media. The optimum temperature for growth and sporulation seems to lie between 28°C and 32°C. Light had little effect on vegetative growth of the fungus but sporulation was significantly better under alternating light and darkness than under conditions of continuous light or darkness.
