Abstract: Pseudomonas aeruginosa can cause symptoms heretofore not ascribed to mummy diseases. Delays in pinning and harvest can be between 2 and 6 da, or longer. Also, a water soaked red/brown tissue layer develops at the base of the stipe when the internal tissue is exposed to the air. Crop losses are more severe when infectious mycelium was introduced at spawning rather than casing. This pathogen has a significant impact on the mycosphere and this may help explain the uncertainties of inducing disease with pure-culture bacterial suspensions.
