Title: Mushroom Worker's Lung as an occupational disease in the cultivation of edible fungi

Abstract:

Sera of workers in the cultivation of the white button mushroom respectively of Shii-take, suffering of Mushroom Worker's Lung (MWL), were found to have high IgG type antibody titres against spore antigens of the thermophilic actinomycete Excellospora flexuosa or of the basidiomycete Lentinus edodes, respectively. Log10titres of the workers in Shii-take growing increased with increased duration of employment in a linear relation. Protection of workers is required to prevent development of MWL.
