Abstract: Over recent years a greater awareness has developed in the requirement for a high degree of air filtration in the cultivated mushroom growing industry. If the ventilation air is not continuously filtered, then disease germs, viruses and noxious mildew can be spread by means of spores in the air. Choosing the correct air filters is governed by several parameters including, (a) the type of air handling system (centrally controlled or per individual growing room), (b) space available for the filters, (c) air volume, (d) moisture repellancy, (e) filter resistance, (f) filter efficiency, (g) exchangeability of filters and (h) incinerability of filters.
