Year 1991
Title: Studies on button mushroom (Agaricus brunnescens Peck) in Pakistan
Authors: S.M. Khan, S. Asad and J.H. Mirza

Abstract:

The best linear growth of five strains of Agaricus brunnescens Peck was obtained on malt extract agar at 25°C. Starch and peptone proved best carbon and nitrogen sources. Different concentrations of lime and gypsum alone and in combination with wheat grain showed that 6% gypsum and 8% lime alone and 2% gypsum and 6% lime in combination proved suitable for spawn production. Sterilization gave better results among different methods tried. Among the three recipes of synthetic composts tried, A3 showed maximum spawn running.
