Abstract: Nature has gifted Pakistan with a variety of climate and topography. At one place it has an arid belt of Baluchistan province and on the other hand a high rain-fall belt of mountaneous area of N.W.F.P. and Punjab provinces and State of Azad-Jammu and Kashmir. Similarly, climatically the desert belt of Cholistan may have temperature of 50° C or above but at the same time the alpine belt may have the temperature below freezing. Cropwise too, all types of crops are cultivated due to well developed canal system which perhaps has no parallelity in the world. In the plain agriculture crops are cultivated of which total area and annual production is given in table 1.
