Abstract: Adequate air filtration is of vital interest to cultivated mushroom growing. Disease germs, like viruses and noxious mildew, can be spread in the ventilation air by means of spores and it is therefore absolutely essential to filter the air continuously. When selecting an air filter a number of features are to be observed: - The air handling system (centrally controlled or per individual growing room) - Available space for the filters - Moisture repellency - Exchangeability - Filter resistance - Filter efficiency - Air volume Of course, industrial economic factors also affect the selection, whereby the right prefilter (coarse filter) in combination with the right main filter (spore filter) will guarantee optimum filter performance.
