Title: Common Edible Mushrooms of Jammu and Kashmir
Author: T.N. Kaul

Abstract:

Jammu and Kashmir State, which is one of the constituent States of the Indian Union, comprises areas of diverse climatic zones ranging from sub-tropical to temperate and alpine. This wide climatic variation gives rise to diverse vegetation types. Intimately connected with the higher vegetation are the fleshy fungi, many of which constitute the edible mushroom wealth of the region.

No systematic attempt has been made in the past to identify these edible mushrooms. This work has been taken up recently in our laboratory and the present communication describes some common forms available in the region.
