Title: A Unifying Concept of Compost Preparation for the Cultivation of the Mushroom Agaricus bisporus
Authors: P.B. Flegg and P.E. Randle

Abstract:

As a result of work on mushroom compost preparation (Flegg and Randle 1980a and 1981) we have developed a general concept of composting which is applicable to a wide range of composting methods for mushroom growing. We hope it will allow clearer and more logical thinking about composts leading to further progress in successful and efficient compost preparation.

Our concept has already been described briefly (Flegg and Randle 1980b). The purpose of this paper is to restate the concept and discuss its relevance as a research tool and for commercial mushroom growing.
