Volume 11 Part 1 Article 25
Year 1981
Title: A Method for Controlling and Regulating the Composting Process
Author: H.F. von Minnigerode

Abstract:

All our experiments have shown that is only possible to reach a safe, constant and high quality compost if the compost has passed an intensive Phase I (Sinden MS.II: Mainly chemical oxidative reaction at high temperatures).

The two main sentences from this work (Sinden MS.II)are these: "The mushroom is one of the few microorganisms able to utilise as a source the dark high-carbon compounds formed by such a caramellisation process. This fact probably accounts for the almost pure culture of mushrooms formed in the compost."
