Abstract: Since 1970 a great deal of research has been done at IMAG into mechanization of mushroom production in the Netherlands. Attention has mainly been paid to the development of the bed system, because so far all Dutch farms have used this system. Three farms recently introduced a variant of the bed system, the so-called drawer system. Tray farms (multi-zone system) do not exist in the Netherlands, so that regarding the tray system we merely follow developments abroad critically and consider, whether they might be of use to our bed system.
