Abstract: Flegg (1972) showed that sporophore initiation was earlier at 22°C than at 16°C, but at the higher temperature many of the small, newly formed sporophores died or developed slowly. This paper reports further work on the effect of temperature on the mushroom particularly on the mycelial aggregates formed in the casing layer and the subsequent development of sporophores.
