Year 1951
Title: The Effect of New Insecticides & Fungicides on Mushroom Pests & Diseases
Author: G.L. HEY

Abstract:

By now, most mushroom growers in this countrv are familiar with DDT and BHC, but HETP, TEPP and Parathion'are not as yet so widely known. Little is known also of the effect of such systemic insecticides as bis-dimethyl-amino phosphonous anhydride. Even research workers in this country have little or no experience with such materials as Toxaphene and Chlordane which, from a theoretical study of their properties, ought to be of value against mushroom pests.

In the fungicide field most growers rely almost entirely on formaldehyde and cresylic type sterilisers, while lime sulphur and colloidal copper are used infrequently for specific purposes. Little or nothing is known about the value of the mercury fungicides, the glyoxalidines or copper 8-hydroxyquinoline.
