Title: Method of Sampling and Analysis of Mushroom Compost and the Determination of Absolute Changes in them
Author: S. Burrows

Abstract:

Mushroom composts were sampled and analysed (1, 2) in order to follow the changes taking place during composting and cropping. Sampling at three stages was undertaken as follows: 1. At the first turn of composting. 2. When filling the cropping beds. 3. When emptying exhausted compost from the beds.

In addition samples were sometimes taken during the cropping | period by means of a core sampling instrument. Moisture, total nitrogen, pH, total ash, acid insoluble ash, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and oxalate3 determinations were then made as desired.
