Year 1951
Title: Technical Control of Composting
Author: W.M. Christensen

Abstract:

In order to be of assistance to the purely practical estimate of the process of composting, daily measurements of the temperature are recorded during the entire period of composting and regular measurements of the proportionate production of CO are also recorded from the time when the compost is considered fully conditioned, i.e., at the time of the final two or three turnings.

Measurement of the temperature should always be made about 25 cm. below the top of the heap.
