Authors: M.L. Badenes, D.J. Werner, J. Martinez-Calvo, M. Lorente and G. Llacer
Abstract:
Important changes in the peach industry of Spain have occurred in recent years, including increases in
acreage and production, and significant changes in the cultivars planted.
Melting-flesh cultivars, primarily
from North America, are replacing the traditional native, seed propagated, non-melting flesh Spanish populations.
A description and comparison of the major peach growing areas in Spain are presented.
