Title: Improving Skin Color of ´Fuji` Apple in Japan

Abstract:
Poor red coloration is often a serious problem in the culture of 'Fuji' apple.
To overcome this situation,
introduction of red sports and the practice of fruit bagging are widely carried out in Japan.
This paper
describes the selection procedures of red sport strains of 'Fuji' and the current tendencies of popular selections of them.
Details of bagging are described along with information on some physiological characteristics of 'Fuji' fruit as related to its poor coloration behavior and responses to bagging.
