Title: Variability of Fruit Quality and Plant Height in Populations of Saskatoon Berries (Amelanchier alnifolia Nutt).

Abstract:
Variability of vegetative and reproductive
characters of saskatoon cultivars, open-polli
nated seedlings and seedlings from controlled
crosses was investigated.
Fruit pH and plant
height was relatively uniform across all popu
lations.
Both berry weight and soluble solid
content of fruit showed considerable variation
and potential for improvement through plant
breeding.
