Abstract:
'Suncling', a new clingstone peach,
has just been introduced by Stanley
Johnston and James Moulton, of the
Mich.
Agr.
Exp.
Station.
It is a cross of
PI 35201 x N.J. 196, made by the N.J.
Agr.
Exp.
Station in 1951. 'Suncling',
grown from seed and selected in Michigan,
matures 10 to 12 days before 'Elberta'.
Fruit buds are very hardy and
flowers are resistant to frost.
Fruit is
medium-large and nearly round.
Flesh
is yellow, fine-textured, and very firm.
Pit is small and clings.
Suncling is very
good for both commercial canning and baby food.
