ISHS Acta Horticulturae 850: III International Symposium on Saffron: Forthcoming Challenges in Cultivation, Research and Economics

IMPACT OF MICROBIAL INOCULATION ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF SAFFRON IN KASHMIR

Authors:   F.A. Nehvi, M.A. Khan, A.A. Lone, M.I. Maqhdoomi
Keywords:   biofertilizers, corm yield, plant weight, organic saffron
Abstract:
Yield maximization in saffron using biofertilizers revealed that inoculation with Azospirilum + VAM recorded the maximum saffron yield followed by Azotobacter + Vermicompost. Highest saffron yield was also associated with substantial corm yield. However, maximum corm recovery was attained through inoculation with Trichoderma + FYM. Yield maximization was associated with increased number of flowers, increased plant height and maximum number of leaves.
