Abstract:
Studies on fungi associated with post harvest decay in table grapes meant for overseas markets were done on grapes collected from different vineyards in Maharashtra during 1997–2003. During storage at 0±0.5&dag;C, post harvest decay was minimal and caused due to Alternaria alternata and Cladosporium sphaerospermum. Infection of both these fungi was restricted to individual berries. On shelf, Aspergillus spp. mainly A. niger, Botryodiplodia theobromae, and Penicillium spp. were found associated with decayed berries, while Rhizopus stolonifer was associated with bunch rot. Botrytis cinerea and Phomopsis were not detected in any sample.
