AFLP ANALYSIS ON GENETIC DIVERSITY OF ZOYSIA JAPONICA

Authors:   Jin Hong, H. Liebao, Zhang Yongming
Keywords:   populations, AFLP, molecular marker, genetic diversity, genetic resources
Abstract:
Genetic diversity of 19 wild populations and 1 cultivated population of Zoysia japonica from 7 representatives of 11 provinces were used to analyze genetic diversity using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) methodology. AFLP fingerprints of every population were established by 10 primer combinations. 524 fragments were obtained among which 385 are polymorphic. The total ratio of polymorphism was 73.5%, which indicated that Z. japonica has abundant genetic diversity. A cluster analysis was made based on genetic distances ranged from 0.0369 to 0.4036. The results showed a tendency that populations living in similar ecological conditions and with close geographical distance clustered firstly.
