ISHS Acta Horticulturae 780: XI International Symposium on Small Fruit Virus Diseases

WILD HOP (HUMULUS LUPULUS L.) IN CAMPANIA REGION (SOUTHERN ITALY) IS FREE OF HOP STUNT VIROID

Authors:   E. Ragozzino, F. Faggioli, A. Cirillo
Keywords:   HSVd, HLVd, wild hosts, epidemiology, certification schemes
Abstract:
Hop stunt viroid (HSVd) has been detected in a number of cultivated fruit trees and several countries. It was decided to look for HSVd in wild hop bushes because of natural infections of HSVd in several stone-fruit species (e.g., plum dapple fruit) occurring in Campania. HSVd has been detected in cultivated hop only in Japan. After four years of testing our results indicate that wild-hop in Campania is free of HSVd.
