Abstract:
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of growth regulators to improve fruit set and produce seedless fruit of 'Gailiangmeru' grape ( spp.). Gibberellin (GA3) was applied at 0, 50, 100 and 200 mg/L at both 7 days before bloom and 7 days after full bloom, or both at full bloom and 7 days later. One spray of Fulmet (Forchlorfenuron 0.1%) was applied at 0, 5, 10, 15 mg/L at 5, 10 or 15 days after bloom. Mepiquat (Mepiquat chloride 44%) was also applied at 0.7, 1, 2 mg/L at the time of 5, 7, 10 leaves, respectively. GA3 treatment of 100 mg/L at 7 days before blooming and 7 days after full blooming resulted in the heaviest berry and the highest seedless berry rate (79%). Treatment with 10 mg/L Fulmet had no significant effect on fruit number per tree, berry number per cluster, and berry setting rate, but increased cluster weight by approximately 10 g. Treatment with 1 mg/L of Mepiquat increased berry setting rate by 3 to 11%.
