INFLUENCE OF LOW LIGHT ON PHOTOSYNTHESIS RATE AND CARBOHYDRATES IN PEACH LEAVES

Abstract:
The photosynthetic characteristics and carbohydrates status of peach plants subjected to low light under solar greenhouse conditions was investigated. The results were as follows: low light stress significantly inhibited the leaf net photosynthetic rate compared with leaves from non-shaded plants. The photosynthetic rate decreased less under one layer shading than under two layers shading. Shading reduced sorbitol, sucrose, fructose, and glucose concentration in leaves both under one layer shading and two layers shading. The photosynthesis rate and carbohydrate concentrations of ‘Maixiang’ were much higher than that of ‘Mayfire’ in each treatment.
