Abstract:
The profile of plum (Prunus salicina) industry, including acreage and yield, growing areas, main varieties, culture technologies such as orchard establishment, training and pruning, irrigation and fertilization, pest and diseases control, and fruit marketing have been outlined in this paper and the present research focus mentioned at the end. According to ancient literature, such as The Book of Songs, plum trees were propagated by grafting and utilized as gifts more than 3000 years ago. But only during the last two decades, has plum production begun to increase and appear economically promising as a crop.
