Abstract:
This paper aims to study the influence of cultivar-rootstock combination on physiological processes in plum. Four plum cultivars with different ripening periods (‘Tuleu gras’, ‘Stanley’, ‘Anna Späth’, ‘Centenar’) grafted on three rootstocks (‘Otesani 8’ (seedling rootstock), ‘Miroval’ (clonal rootstock), ‘Pixy’ (clonal rootstock)) were studied. The orchard was set-up in 1992, it has 625 trees/ha, and is located in South western Romania (Oltenia region). The influence of cultivar-rootstock combination on photosynthesis intensity, respiration and leaf content of chlorophyll, was studied. It was found that photosynthesis intensity was influenced by cultivars, by cultivar maturation time, by rootstock strength and by phenophase. Respiration intensity and chlorophyll content was variable depending on cultivar and phenophase.
