Keywords:   pistachio, mineral oil, Ghazvini, Ohadi
Abstract:
It has been shown that the application of Volck® mineral oil increases pistachio splitting and fresh and dry weight of the crop and decreases blankness and percentage of small fruit. A study was carried out in order to determine the best spraying time and concentration of Volck® mineral oil. The experiment was based on a randomized complete block design, including two spraying times (Feb 14, March 16), four concentrations of oil (0, 4, 6, and 8%) and two cultivars (“Ghazvini”, “Ohadi”) with three replications in three years. Fresh weight of total crop increased in both “Ghazvini” and “Ohadi” by 11.7 and 7.41 kg per tree, when applying 6% in March 15. Other fruit characteristics (blankness, splitting, percent of small fruit and fruit total dry weight were significantly affected (P<0.01) by mentioned treatment. “Ghazvini” was more affected than “Ohadi”.
